We refer to the article which appeared in The Star paper page 6 (9 August 2010) today titled PSM unhappy with PKR’s decision to dismiss rep without consultation.
We would like to clarify the following as the story CAN be misleading:
- “We had postponed our central committee meeting last month, as the Mentri Besar had publicly stated that he wanted to meet up with us.” as reported is not correct. The PSM Central Committee did meet in its last CC meeting on 22 July 2010 but decided not to discuss the issue of councillor seat since the Selangor Menteri has said that he will resolve the issue and hold discussion with PSM. Further to that, the CC decided that we will seek a meeting with opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to discuss this issue as well as resolve other issues.
- On the question of fielding candidate in Subang. The party did not discuss this; and such issues such as seat negotiation will be with consultation with the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) to avoid a three corner fight and to ensure BN’s defeat in the next election.
- We would like to reiterate that there are serious problems facing the rakyat today as subsidies for the poor have been removed as the Government continues its neo-liberal capitalist agenda which will bring further hardship to the people. PSM will focus our energy on these pressing issues rather than get side-tracked into internal squabbles with our allies.
